TOSHIE KUSAMOTO

A photographer born in Beppu City, Kusamoto lives and works in Kyoto City. She was selected for the 11th and 12th Hitotsubo Photography Exhibitions and was in charge of photographing the main visuals for the Beppu Contemporary Art Festival, Mixed Bathing World. Kusamoto also participated in the festival program, Beppu Project 2015. She was also in charge of documentary photography and video for the ALS-D Project, a dance studio and residence for patients with ALS, a neurological disease. Kusamoto photographs places where physical interaction takes place, including workshops between dancers and people with disabilities. Since the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, he has gone to Onagawa Town, Miyagi Prefecture, to document the growth of a young boy.
