AKIKO NAKAYAMA
A painter, Nakayama performs Alive Painting, in which she paints pictures by causing various materials, from liquids to solids, to react with each other. Her vivid depictions of these phenomena are grounded in science and physics and create colors that serve as metaphors for living organisms and relationships. In her solo work, Nakayama treats sound as “transparent paint” and touches space and emotion through her painting. In recent years, she has participated in TEDxHaneda (Tokyo, 2015), DLECTRICITY ART FESTIVAL (USA, 2017), New Ars Electronica opening performance (Austria, 2019), Biennale Nemo (France, 2018), and MUTEK Montreal (Canada, 2019).
